Action for Climate and Ecosystem Conservation

Addressing Climate Change and Promoting Sustainable Ecosystems

In alignment with Goal-13 of the SDGs—to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts—and Goal-15—to protect, restore and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, and prevent biodiversity loss—SWATI has been actively implementing various initiatives. These include Natural Resource Development Activities, Community Forest Management, Watershed Development, and the promotion of climate-resilient agricultural practices.

Sustainable Forest Management and Climate Resilience

Integrated Programs for Environmental and Community Wellbeing

In past years, SWATI has carried out the Drought Prone Area Programme (DPAP), Plantation and Land Development, and campaigns focused on protecting natural resources to mitigate the effects of climate change. It has also conducted Cyclone Rehabilitation Programs in its operational villages. Currently, the organization is facilitating the implementation of the Odisha Forest Sector Development Programme, Phase – 2, aiming to promote sustainable forest management through restoration initiatives while generating income and livelihood opportunities for forest-dependent communities in Ganjam District. SWATI has also launched awareness campaigns on the protection of natural resources to educate communities about climate change and encourage their participation in environmental conservation.
